Jagaddhatri

Rs.5999.00

DESCRIPTION

The Indian states of West Bengal and Odisha honor Jagaddhatri, a manifestation of the Hindu goddess Durga. In Sanskrit, Bengali, and Assamese, the word "Jagaddhatri" literally translates to "Holder (dhatri) of the World (Jagat)". On his vahana lion, Jagaddhatri is pictured sitting with her legs crossed. Being the color of the rising sun, having three eyes, and four arms, and holding a chakra, conch, bow, and arrows while dressed in crimson, glittering diamonds, and yagyonpaveeta (a sacred thread), a symbol of yoga and the Brahman. She enjoys particular acclaim in West Bengal, where an annual puja is done in her honor to celebrate her triumph over the elephant monster Karindrasura.
